"The Remedy for Healing is to Connect One More Deeply to Ones' Self."
Christine Cantwell, DC, FMAC
Doctor of Chiropractic
Certified in Functional Medicine
Christine Cantwell, DC has been a practicing chiropractor for 20 years, graduating with honors from Life Chiropractic College West in 2005. She spent 15 years in private practice in San Francisco, CA, and previous to that had an established clinic in Nelson, NZ.
Her approach combines bio mechanical analysis, unwinding of spinal cord tension, and improving posture and breath expansion with the aim of allowing the body’s internal healing mechanisms to be greater expressed.
Her methods get to the root of nervous system holding patterns which are key to unlocking chronic pain and ideal for those with greater environmental sensitivities, or anyone who wants to live more freed up in their body and mental state.
Utilizing novel tools such as the Stimpod Pulsed Radio Frequency Treatment, Avant Low Level Laser and the Nuex Pro muscle activation tool, she is always adding techniques and innovative therapies to make them available to her patient base.
Christine has worked with thousands of women during their pregnancy- some of those babies are now in Uni! Offering gentle chiropractic adjustments to alleviate pregnancy-related discomfort and prepare for a smoother birth and postpartum recovery. She is certified in the Webster Technique, which improves pelvic alignment to support optimal fetal positioning for birth, and has advanced training in cranio sacral therapy for infants and children
In addition to chiropractic care, Christine has studied Functional Medicine and is a Certified Foundational Blood Work Specialist, Functional Medicine Certified through the Functional Medicine Academy, and is a Tension Releasing Exercises (TRE) practitioner. She is completing her certification in Foundation Training ( functional movement approach) this year. She provides health consultations that use conventional lab results to guide personalized lifestyle and nutritional recommendations. She offers TRE classes- which are a simple and easy way for anyone to reduce the stress and tension in their body.
Born in Christchurch, New Zealand, with a Kiwi dad and an American Mum, and having spent many years overseas- Christine has long dreamed of returning home to raise her son and continue her career. She and her partner, John, chose Oamaru as "the spot" for their family to grow roots and look forward to deepening their participation in the community in the years to come.
